The House chooses the distance, composes with the light and decides what enters the frame.

Each photograph emerges from these choices and from what presents itself before the lens.

This is a photographic practice; it is not a form of therapy.

01 / THE NEED

Every photograph begins with a question: what, today, asks to take form?

A presence, a relationship, a body or a period of life may be the starting point for the Chamber. The House takes time to understand its singularity before defining the scope of the work.

02 / THE PASSAGE

A place, a time and a presence come together for the photographic session.

Maison Elion observes how a person inhabits a place, how two bodies move closer or remain apart. It chooses the frame, composes with the light and guides a gesture when the photograph calls for it.

03 / WHAT REMAINS

After the session, Maison Elion chooses the photographs that will form the whole. Some stand alone; others find their place alongside the images around them.

The Thyra

Each Chamber includes a Thyra, a photographic frame in which a chosen image takes its place.
